We are looking for a warden couple to join our small team to assist with the running of our holiday park from March 2018 until November 2018. Our park consists of a mixture of privately owned holiday caravans/lodges (67) and rental homes (28).

We are located in a secluded and delightful setting on the outskirts of Bassenthwaite, in the northern Lake District, Cumbria.

The main duties and responsibilities between the couple would include: shop work, welcoming guests upon their arrival, cleaning and laundry duties, manning the customer maintenance line, general maintenance and gardening.

Successful applicants should be physically capable with a positive attitude, strong sense of customer service and pride in their work. Applicants should also be reliable, with a clean driving licence and vehicle, have an aptitude for problem solving and a flexible attitude towards work.

While not essential; intermediate I.T. skills, some shop/retail experience and basic D.I.Y. skills would be an advantage.

Hours of work are to be confirmed (but would be approx. 30 hours per person per week) and to include weekends and bank holidays. Successful applicants would also be given two full days off per week (together). Along with your salary we are also offering a one bedroom timber lodge as your accommodation.

Applicants must have their own unit (a serviced hard standing pitch with gas/electric etc will be available), and demonstrate excellent customer service skills, together with a ‘can do attitude to the role, and be able to work well as members of a team and with the general public. We pride ourselves on providing an excellent camping experience for our customers, and this is reflected in our on line reviews.

The role will cover all aspects of campsite management including office & administration, cleaning and customer service, with an additional focus on gardening and grounds maintenance. We try to make our site as lovely as possible, and we need people who are keen to help us with this. Full training and equipment will be provided.

You would normally work 3 days per week (with possible additional days/ hours at busy periods of the season), with three overnight on calls - where you would be off duty but one person would be asked to be on site in case of emergencies and to do the evening walk around the site. Any additional hours during busy periods would be paid at national minimum wage. When you are not on the day or overnight rota your free time is completely your own to enjoy the lovely local area.

In the heart of the Dovedale Valley, surrounded by Dove Crag, Hart Crag and Fairfield with Brotherswater nearby, Sykeside Camping Park is an inspiring location for camping, offering stunning views wherever you pitch.

Duties would include:
- General keeping watch over the campsite
- Cleaning the toilet and shower block between 12noon-2pm
- Cleaning the bunkhouses and yurts as required
- Helping guests to pitch tents in bad weather (or sometimes good weather too!)
- Patrolling the site after 11pm
- Reading and checking tent tags
- Helping pitch touring caravans
- Occasional grass cutting and ground works
- General maintenance, DIY and repairs

The role would suit a couple as we do currently have a vacancy for a housekeeper too, cleaning 30 to 40 hours per week.

The site has 26 hardstanding pitches for campervans, caravans or motorhomes, up to 100 tent pitches, a 36-bed bunkhouse, a traditional country inn with bed and breakfast rooms and two furnished yurts. The site facilities include male and female toilet and shower blocks, a laundry area and pot washing area, as well as a galley kitchen for exclusive use of bunkhouse residents.

Vacancies until at least the end of October, but as we are open all year we could extend the jobs to include the winter months. Hours would average 40 per week over 5 days Friday through to Tuesday inclusive, salary for warden £16,300.00 per annum, housekeeper paid hourly at minimum wage.

Access to a car would be an advantage as we are a rural site. The site is located on the Kirkstone Pass; the nearest village is Patterdale 3 miles away, or the nearest town is Windermere 12 miles away. Public transport links are poor and there is no mobile phone reception.

A pitch with hook up for a motorhome or caravan can be provided or alternatively accommodation and meals are available at a cost of £40.00 per person per week.

The variety of duties may include:

Housekeeping:
Must have experience in maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness across all guest accommodation, sales vans and all site facilities with an emphasis on exceeding customer expectations.

Outdoor:
Must be customer focused, and have good DIY skills with the ability to perform general maintenance duties. Whilst we have our own engineers, practical hands on work is required and experience thereof will be highly advantageous.

Other duties include recycling, litter picking, grass and hedge cutting, cleaning shower blocks, delivering gas cylinders and siting vans. Driving licence and towing experience are a must. Other duties will include Park security which will include out of hours call outs.

Office:
Must have experience in customer service, both face to face and over the phone. IT skills will be required, as you will be using our online booking system, as well as taking new bookings and processing payments. Duties will include checking guests in/out and explaining the site rules, facilities and layout.

Other responsibilities may include serving in our café bar or shop.
